Rogers Park features some of my favorite brick buildings in all of Chicago. Between 1900 and 1930, Rogers Park’s population more than quadrupled, and hundreds of buildings were constructed to serve the new population - most of them out of brick. This period also coincided with a time when Chicago was producing millions of bricks locally (10% of all the brick in the nation) and sourcing even more from all across the country.

Rogers Park is Chicago brick building at its peak - An enormous variety of brick designs, textures, colors, built into courtyard apartments, turn of the century mansions, and commercial buildings. This tour will cover Chicago history, Rogers Park history, and - of course - tons of brick and brick facts.

After this tour, you’ll see Chicago and the humble brick with new eyes!

Tour departs at 3pm from location TBA (close to public transit)
